Node4 Use Technology Day to Announce the Launch of 2nd Data Centre Hall

Last Thursday just fewer than 40 people from across the country descended on Node4 in Derby for the Technology Day the Data Centre specialists were hosting. The morning included 4 sessions on the latest technologies with the aim to show the attendees how their business can directly benefit from them.

Sessions included a tour of DataCentre2 in which visitors were able to see Hall 2 in its last stages of development before the live date of July 14th, just 2 weeks away now. The guests were impressed to see the state-of-the-art features and room for 135 42U racks that were pointed out and explained by Rik Williams, Node4’s Data Centre Operations Manager.

Other sessions included a representative from DELL/EqualLogic who gave a presentation and demonstration on Virtualisation and SAN storage devices, Node4’s resident SIP expert, Richard Buxton giving a talk on SIP trunking including the advantages and disadvantages of the fastest growing technology at the moment. Richard also talked about Node4’s new SIPlink Gateway device which allows the business who currently has a non SIP-enabled PBX to easily and cheaply take advantage of SIP trunking.

The most popular session of the day was the Cisco NOW van, a 25 foot van which included a huge array of Cisco equipment. Demonstrations were given on how the kit can increase business productivity and gave the chance for a hands-on experience of the security, unified communications and networking equipment along with the chance to ask any questions to the Cisco representative and Node4’s Technical Services Manager, Chris Pagel.

Due to the positive feedback received on the day from all attendees, Node4 are hoping to make the educational open day a regular occurrence, so keep an eye out for future announcements!
