Linux Support Engineer

With our own UK data centres, national MPLS network and many strong USPs, our portfolio includes Colocation, Cloud, Connectivity, Managed Services and Unified Communication solutions.

As a result of our continued year on year growth, we need to expand our Open Source support team and are therefore looking to recruit a Linux Support Technician.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop trust and strong working relationship with customers
  • Monitor servers and services to ensure uptime for our customer platforms, in accordance with our SLA
  • Work with a wide range of different technologies and systems
  • Join the on-call rota to cover evenings and weekends, when necessary
  • Strive for continuous improvement

Technical Skills

  • Experience using both Linux Servers & Desktops
  • A basic understanding of Linux & Web Hosting (LAMP/LEMP) and associated technologies
  • Some basic scripting experience using BASH, PHP (or similar)
  • Natural troubleshooting skills: confident investigating any technical problem, know when to ask for help
  • Strong analytical skills: identifying problems and implementing solutions to those problems
  • Customer focus: Understanding of customer requirements and ability to articulate problems to technical and non-technical points of contact
  • A genuine desire to learn about Linux systems
