Network Security Engineer

Job Description

Working in Node4’s Network Infrastructure and Professional Services Team, reporting to the Lead Network Services Architect, you will assist in shaping the technical delivery of secure networking solutions using primarily Fortinet products. You will support members of the team to define implementation specifications, standard configurations, and processes.

You will deliver customer facing project work, contributing to low-level design work and technical implementation. You will ensure these solutions can be sustainably delivered and supported going forward, creating technical documentation and training packs to enable the transition into BAU delivery and support teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing technical specifications and standard configurations for secure networking solutions
  • Engage in technical scoping calls or meetings to determine and document customer requirements
  • Assist Pre-Sales in the development of low-level designs and scope of works documents
  • Assist Project Management in the development of implementation plans
  • Deliver project work to customers prior to solutions being handed over to BAU teams
  • Develop technical implementation documentation and training packs for handover to BAU teams
  • Deliver technical demonstrations and training to customers and internal teams, remotely and in-person
  • Follow technology developments in the area of network security
  • Become a subject matter expert for relevant Node4 network security solutions
  • Provide 3rd line support to customers for relevant network security solutions
  • Work with security teams to implement vulnerability assessment, integrate security incident management systems and assist with security incident response where necessary
  • Work flexible hours to support the implement of customer change requests with minimal impact
  • Travel to Node4 and customer sites as required

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge and experience of Fortinet technologies is highly desirable, including: FortiGate NGFW / UTM, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiNAC and FortiAuthenticator
  • Experience implementing network routers, switches, and wireless access points
  • Experience implementing firewalls and load balancers
  • Experience implementing network access control solutions
  • Experience with dynamic routing protocols is highly desirable, preferably BGP
  • Delivery of technical network security projects, ideally in a managed service capacity
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, able to identify and resolve network related issues
  • Creation of technical documentation to enable the transition of projects from delivery to support
  • An awareness of SD-WAN, its benefits and different deployment approaches
  • An awareness of Network Access Control and Zero Trust Networking
