Network Project Engineer

Location: Derby Head Office, Nottingham - other Node4 sites will be considered

Job Description

Working as part of a Network Team, you will be a key player delivering orders and working on customer projects delivering end-to-end solutions comprising of WAN, LAN, WLAN and security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Taking a high level design, scope of works and bill of materials and developing a low level design and implementation plan
  • Being competent in the low level design of WANs and LANs (IP addressing, VLANs, resilience at Layer-2 and Layer-3, etc.)
  • Being competent in the configuration of Cisco router and switches and/or Juniper routers and switches
  • Building and implementing test plans
  • Performing network migrations (typically out of hours)
  • Building change controls defining CLI commands
  • Reviewing other engineers’ change controls
  • Designing WLAN solutions
  • Configuring security appliances and UTM features on either Cisco ASA and/or Juniper SRX & Fortigate
  • Mentoring network support and provisioning engineers

Key Skills

  • Core skills – Enterprise switching and routing, WLAN, firewalls/security
  • Core Vendors – Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Meraki
  • Other skills – Service provider routing, data centre switching
  • Certifications/ability – CCNP, JNCIP level (although certification is not required)
